NORMA Germany receives Ökoprofit Award for the best energy saving concept

Frankfurt am Main/Maintal, Germany, 10 December 2015 – NORMA Germany GmbH (“NORMA Germany”), a company of NORMA Group, has been presented with the 2015 Ökoprofit Award for its energy saving concept. The company currently saves around 200,000 cubic meters of compressed air, 25,000 kilowatt hours of electricity and 14,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide each month because the compressed air supply is switched off automatically whenever its production machinery stops running.

NORMA Group makes an important contribution on the way to becoming a green Rhine-Main region with its energy-saving concept,” said Rosemarie Heilig, Head of the Environment on behalf of the city of Frankfurt, at the award ceremony held on November 9. “Its successful approach clearly shows how the environment and resources can be sustainably saved at the same time that costs can be reduced.

NORMA Germany has also been certified in accordance with the DIN EN ISO 50001 standard since October 2015 for setting up a systematic energy management approach. The company is thus seeking to continue to pursue its energy goals which the company set when the system was first introduced in 2013. Around 1.9 million kilowatt hours of electricity and thus roughly 670 tons of carbon dioxide are to be saved by the end of 2017. Operating costs could then be reduced by a total of more than EUR 220,000.

Ökoprofit Frankfurt is a cooperation between the city of Frankfurt and the business community in the Rhine-Main region. The aim of the project is to lower energy consumption by half by the year 2050. Eight other companies from Frankfurt and the surrounding region besides NORMA Germany participated in Ökoprofit’s presentation and selection round in 2015.
