Reduce pressure loss - increase range

Our contribution to a top performance and increased range of your EVs

Efficiency is at the forefront of electric vehicle design. Our solutions address the challenge of pressure loss reduction in fluid lines, optimizing performance and contributing to the overall energy efficiency of the vehicle.

Simulation to optimize design

Based on advanced simulation techniques, we strive to improve our solutions even further. We cannot yet predict the future - but the use of state-of-the-art simulations helps us to understand what future systems may look like.

Benefits:
- System optimization (routing, bends, tube diameters, weight, flow, etc.)
- Faster development and industrialization
- Less tooling cost for special parts

Examples:
Smooth flexible tubes instead of corrugated tubes
- Less pressure drop
- Lower cost

Cheaper materials
- PP tubes and interfaces
- Multi layer tubes that use a high content of cheaper materials

Flow optimized interfaces e.g., NORMA CLPD (Compact Low Pressure Drop) design

Let’s develop the optimal fluid handling systems

Compact Low Pressure Drop (CLPD) Quick Connector

One of the product innovations resulting from our simulations is the so-called CLPD (Compact Low Pressure Drop) Quick Connector.

Challenge: pressure drop in cooling water line due to 90° Quick Connectors

Solution: flow-optimized shape of 90°C Quick Connectors, based on simulation

Benefits

- Average pressure loss reduction of 46% for 90° QC* and 21% for 45° QC*

- Concept applicable for all angled QC

- One-to-one replacement of standard QCs with CLPD-QCs possible

*Depending on volume flow, fluid, fluid temperature (Reynolds Number), flow direction and QC used as reference

Flexible Smooth Tube (TP Flex)

The flexible choice for eMobility.
A light and compact tube.

TP Flex comes with several advantages, apart from being flexible. Here are some of them:

- Weighing less. 75% lower compared to rubber hoses.

- Compact design. 25% smaller outside diameter compared to a rubber hose.

- Low pressure drop. 25-55% in bends compared to corrugated tubes.

- Assembly with standard firtree QC’s. No clamps needed (sleeve needed for big diameters).

- Cost efficient. Tailor made solution for EV-BTM

What do river bends and sharks have in common with our thermal management systems?

It's amazing how we can draw inspiration from nature to optimise our solutions even further.
