NORMA Group welcomes refugees to its plant in Gerbershausen

Gerbershausen, Germany, 21 June 2016 – NORMA Group, a global market leader in engineered joining technology, is supporting the German language courses that are being held for refugees in Gerbershausen. To mark NORMA Diversity Day on 7 June 2016, the participants from Syria got to know the company during a tour of the plant and learned more about orientational internships.

"We were very pleased to get to know our new neighbours personally and to introduce them to our company. We were even able to hold part of the guided tour in German," says Martin Hielscher, Plant Manager at NORMA Germany GmbH in Gerbershausen. "It is really impressive how quickly the participants are learning the foreign language and how motivated they are. We would be happy to welcome some of our visitors back to an orientational internship at NORMA Group."

The German language courses were organized on the initiative of NORMA Group. They are held twice a week for two hours each in cooperation with the primary school in Gerbershausen, the shelter for refugees in Bornhagen, the district of Eichsfeld and the administration association Hanstein-Rusteberg. Besides paying the tuition fees, the company is also providing the study materials for the nearly 40 participants.

NORMA Group has been supporting German courses for refugees and offering orientational internships since the end of 2015 also at its headquarters in Maintal, Germany.
