NORMA Group to equip zoo enclosure with channel drains

Woodland Hills, USA, September 16, 2020 NORMA Group, a global market leader in engineered joining technology, is equipping the alligator enclosure of a zoo in California with Spee-D® Channel Drains. Spee-D® Channel Drains are mainly used in swimming pools, spas and terraces. In the alligator enclosure, the Spee-D® Channel Drains will ensure that the water that enters the enclosure from the outside is captured and drained off.

“NORMA Group offers a wide range of water management products,” says Dr. Michael Schneider, CEO of NORMA Group. “The order shows that our products can be used in a variety of applications. We are particularly pleased to further expand our cooperation with this long-standing customer, as we have been equipping many areas of the zoo with our drainage solutions for several years now.”

Alligators can live up to 90 years because of their slow metabolism. The zoo was therefore looking for a very durable drainage system that would provide the animals with a habitat that is as natural as possible. In this case, the Spee-D® Channel Drains represented a lightweight alternative to heavy concrete drainage channels.

The Spee-D® Channel Drains can be supplemented with a variety of accessories such as T-pieces and end and bottom outlets. As a result, an individual drainage system that is tailor-made to the customer’s needs can be created. The channel drains come in two sizes and the grates in several colors and thus adapt quite easily to different environments. Customers benefit above all from their quick and easy installation. The channel drains are produced by the NORMA Group subsidiary NDS in Fresno, California.
