NORMA Group to equip US headquarters of an Asian company with grass pavers

Woodland Hills, USA, August 18, 2020 – NORMA Group, a global market leader in engineered joining technology, is equipping the US headquarters of an Asian consumer electronics company with NDS EZ Roll™ Grass Pavers. These grass pavers are mainly used in car parking spaces, fire department access roads and golf courses and represent a sustainable alternative to traditional paving methods. Since they protect the root zone and prevent soil compaction, grass can also grow in places where normally impermeable materials such as bricks or asphalt are used. This minimizes potential damages from rainwater infiltration and the creation of heat islands that form when the surrounding area gets too hot.

“The sealing of surfaces is increasing worldwide,” says Dr. Michael Schneider, CEO of NORMA Group. “Important soil functions such as water permeability and cooling of the environment are lost through concreting, asphalting and paving. Among other things, this intensifies the situation of sinking groundwater levels and increasingly leads to heat islands. We counteract this with our grass pavers and offer our customers a sustainable alternative to traditional paving methods.”

NORMA Group is contributing to its customer’s sustainability efforts with its grass pavers. When constructing the building, the customer took into account, among other things, an energy-efficient building system, solar panels and the planting of the roof and inner courtyard. The grass pavers were installed in the fire department access road and then planted with grass.

The NDS EZ Roll™ Grass Paver are made of 100 percent recycled plastic and are also capable of bearing heavy loads. In fact, they can carry a load of around 280 tons per square meter. They are available in two sizes, supplied in pre-assembled rolls and can be connected quickly and easily using a locking system. The grass pavers are produced by the NORMA Group subsidiary NDS in Lindsay, California.
