NORMA Group awards innovation scholarships to young engineers in China

Maintal, Germany, June 4, 2019NORMA Group, a global market leader in engineered joining technology, has honored 20 students and faculty of Qingdao University in China with an innovation scholarship. The awards went to automation projects in agriculture and food production, among other fields.

“Only with highly qualified employees can we secure our innovative strength and further expand our technological leadership,” said Dr. Friedrich Klein, Chief Operating Officer of NORMA Group, at the ceremony held at Qingdao University. “Talented people who present concrete solutions based on original approaches are exactly the people we need at NORMA Group. In Qingdao University, we have found a partner who is just as concerned with training junior staff as we are.”

With this scholarship, NORMA Group is enabling the award winners to take part in national innovation competitions. For example, one team came in second place in the national university competition for innovation design with a pineapple picking machine. Another team came in second place in the national competition for digital 3D innovation design with a meat processing project.

The NORMA Innovation Scholarship was awarded for the second time. It is part of the cooperation between NORMA Group and the School of Automation and Electrical Engineering at Qingdao University that was formed in 2017. NORMA Group supports the student innovation program, cooperates with the university on further programs and offers students internships in product development, test laboratories, process engineering and quality management.
NORMA Group operates a plant in Qingdao where it manufactures thermoplastic joining solutions for diverse applications.
