First international Help Day at NORMA Group

Maintal, Germany, 22 July 2015 – NORMA Group, a global market leader in engineered joining technology, is celebrating its first international NORMA Help Day in the week from 20 to 24 July 2015. Employees at NORMA sites all over the world will take part in voluntary activities for nonprofit organizations under the motto “Giving back to our communities.” “NORMA Help Day is an expression of our identity as a group of companies that operates globally, but is deeply rooted locally. We feel a responsibility to get involved in many ways to create a vibrant and livable environment at our sites,” says Werner Deggim, CEO of NORMA Group.

With the company-wide Help Day that will include a complete campaign week for the first time ever, NORMA Group is seeking to strengthen social life at its sites. To this end, employees will be contributing to various social projects. The NORMA sites involved range from Atibaia in Brazil to Pilica in Poland and Qingdao in China. “We want to communicate the importance of doing volunteer work to society for the entire company. In selecting the projects, it is important to us that they act for the benefit of the community or help a needy target audience in the long term,” comments Marion Mitchell, responsible for coordinating the international NORMA Help Day.

Around 40 volunteer helpers assisted in four different projects at the NORMA Group’s headquarters in Maintal. The partners were the Friedrich Fröbel School, the Erich Kästner School, the daycare center Moosburger Weg and the DRK senior center Maintal-Bischofsheim. The activities ranged from renovating school hallways and transforming a schoolyard by designing a play area at the daycare center to a joint trip with elderly in wheelchairs. The comment made by Elisabeth Görgen, headmistress at the Friedrich Fröbel School, clearly shows that these activities have had a real added value for the project partners: “Thanks to the efforts of employees of NORMA Group, our school corridors are shiny and white again. Thank you for your unbureaucratic and dedicated support.”

Even the Mayor of Maintal, Erhard Rohrbach, praised the company’s commitment during a visit on this volunteer day: “I am delighted that NORMA Help Day is supporting charitable projects from civil society again this year. With their commitment, NORMA Group and its employees contribute to making sure that Maintal remains a lively place worth living in.”

Social responsibility has a long tradition at NORMA Group. The company presents itself as a responsible partner for society all over the world. More information about the local commitment at the various NORMA Group sites can be found at www.normagroup.com/cr.
