NORMA Group helped out on a range of social and ecological projects as part of a voluntary work assignment at the NORMA Help Day. For one day, employees at the sites around the world volunteered their time to lend a hand in the neighborhood.
“NORMA Help Day is an excellent opportunity for us to help improve the lives of people in the communities immediately around our sites”, says Miriam Reith from NORMA Group’s Corporate Responsibility department. “Every year, several hundred colleagues worldwide take part in this event with great enthusiasm. NORMA Help Day is an integral part of our corporate responsibility activities.”
In Maintal, NORMA Group employees built a large insect hotel on the grounds of the children and youth park in Hochstadt. In the upcoming weeks, children will be able to continue filling the wooden construction with nesting materials for wild bees and other insects. The volunteers also repaired a leaking water pipe with compression fittings. Another group from NORMA Group provided support to the forester in Maintal-Bischofsheim by caring for young trees and cleaning up the forest.
Katharina Kächelein from the Maintal volunteer agency visited the volunteer group at the children and youth park: “With their commitment to local institutions, NORMA Group employees actively help shape the image of our town. I am really thrilled that they feel so connected to the city. The results of the efforts put in by the teams were visible in just a few hours.” Every year in Maintal, the volunteer agency arranges contact with charitable institutions where employees can get involved.
NORMA Help Day has been happening at the Maintal site since 2014 and is now organized once a year at all sites worldwide. NORMA Day participants in Serbia, for example, renovated a playground and planted trees on site. And at the site in Sweden, employees supported a local organization that organizes summer camps for refugee children from Ukraine. Together they organized an afternoon for 40 children on the summer sled run, followed by a buffet meal. Contributions were also collected for social institutions at other locations.
